The Plan Approval Panel

The Plan Approval Panel meets every week to approve and review interagency plans. The Panel includes experienced senior practitioners from Child, Youth and Family, disability and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Special Education.

Plan Approval Panel assessments and considerations

The Plan Approval Panel assesses:

  • whether the interventions in the plan will address the needs
  • if the funding requested is reasonable
  • if the plan is making a positive difference.

The Panel provides a fresh set of eyes and makes recommendations to help the team. When reviewing plans, the Panel considers:

  • Are the right people/agencies on the team?
  • Are any potential provider conflicts of interest avoided?
  • Is the child/young person appropriately engaged with the plan direction?
  • Have the recommendations from the Application Panel been addressed?
  • Does the plan address the needs identified in the application?
  • Are the client goals specific, measurable and achievable?
  • Are the interventions consistent with best practice?
  • Are the interventions culturally appropriate?
  • Is the team clear how they will measure progress toward goals?
  • Are agency contributions reasonable?
  • Is the funding requested reasonable?

Plan Approval Panel calendar

Plan Approval Panel meetings have moved from two meetings every fortnight to one meeting every week as of May 2012. One week it will be Tuesday, and the following week, which is also an Application Panel week, the Plan Approval Panel will be on the Wednesday.

Completed Plans, Reviews and Funding Change Requests need to be received at the HCN Unit by 5pm Tuesday the week prior to the Panel meeting they will be considered at. For example, if a Plan is received by 5 p.m. Tuesday 8 May, it will be considered for the Wednesday 16 May Panel meeting.

A completed Plan, Review or Funding Change Request must include a cover letter and the correct forms signed by the Lead Agency Manager. As meetings will be weekly, the HCN Unit will hold the paperwork for an incomplete Plan, Review or Funding Change Request and only submit the information to Panel once all of the information is received.

You can contact your HCN Advisor with any questions or feedback.
